Hotham Sound is like a small fjord. Located at the entrance to Jervis Inlet, on the Sunshine Coast, Hotham carves it's way into the steep mountains of the Pacific Ranges. It's north/south direction provides for excellent protection from winds and creates surprisingly warm waters. Harmony Islands Marine Park is located just inside Hotham Sound. Above the Harmony Islands is Freil Falls. Tumbling down over 1400 feet from Freil Lake above, this water fall is a beautiful sight and a thundering sound. Further up the Sound, granite mountain slopes shine brilliantly in the morning sun. You can just imagine how the intense weight of massive glaciers carved out the mountains and polished the hard granite to a shiny brilliance. Below these mountain peaks, thick rainforest descends into the ocean and warm tide pools beckon paddlers further into this magnificent Sound.

Few kayakers venture into the waters of Hotham Sound. Why is this? Very few kayakers know about it's beauty and what it has to offer. We welcome you to join us and to discover the treasures of Hotham Sound.

This tour launches from Saltery Bay - where the ferry arrives/departs - approximately 30km's south of Powell River.
