Powell River Sea Kayak: Packing Lists

What we provide -- What you provide

Powell River Sea Kayak Ltd. provides the following on Multi-day Tours:

  • Launching Kayakshigh quality fiberglass sea kayaks (singles and doubles)
  • tents with vestibule rainfly's
  • Thermarest Sleeping Pads (Standard Size)
  • all sea kayaking equipment
  • first-aid equipment
  • all meals and snacks
  • all cooking equipment and utensils
  • beer or wine (with meal)
  • snorkeling gear
  • wet-suits (if needed)
  • soap for washing
  • and a guide...with a smile
  • for our Desolation Sound and Toba Inlet tours, safe parking is provided free at our site on Okeover Inlet.

Guests will need the following:

  • sunglasses
  • sunscreen
  • spare prescription eyeglasses
  • 2 of any medications stored in separate containersKayaking
  • 1 warm fleece jacket
  • 1 rain jacket
  • hat for sun and rain
  • 1 pair pants for camp (may be cotton but quick dry is best)
  • 1 pair pants for paddling (quick-dry)
  • 1 pair rain pants (cheap rubberized pants are fine)
  • 1 pair long underwear pants (not cotton; not 50% cotton)
  • 1 longsleeve t-shirt (quick dry best)
  • 2 t-shirts (at least 1 quick dry preferred)
  • extra socks (avoid that cotton!)
  • 1 pair shorts or bathing suit for swimming
  • 1 pair shorts (cotton or quick dry)
  • 1 pair water shoes (try to avoid open-toed sandals - old sneakers are fine)
  • 1 pair dry shoes or sandals for camp
  • 1 personal water bottle
  • personal effects (e.g.: toothbrush, toothpaste...)
  • compact sleeping bag (not the 50lb Army bag)
  • small towel (preferably a quick dry pack towel vs. a big cotton towel)
  • a positive attitude (absolutely essential)

You may consider these extras:

  • cotton gloves or bike gloves for blister protection
  • camera
  • insect repellant
  • book
  • fishing license and fishing gear
  • camp chair (e.g.: Crazy Creek or converter chair for a Standard Size Thermarest)
  • small flashlight or headlamp
  • tent - if you have one that is lightweight and would prefer to use

Do not bring the following:

  • hand or hair soap - PRSK provides environmentally friendly products on tour
  • pillow (hint: a pillow case works great when stuffed with a fleece jacket)
  • toilet paper
  • your dog
